Let readers choose what to stop, not lose them altogether
If you send a daily issue and a weekly edition, a reader who has had enough of one may still want the other. The preference center lets them leave a single list, or stop everything, instead of disappearing from all your mailings with one click.
Regular unsubscribe and the preference center
What happens when a reader clicks the unsubscribe link in your email
| Setting | What the reader gets |
|---|---|
| Regular unsubscribe (default) | The reader is removed right away, with no choice screen. |
| Preference center | The reader lands on a page and chooses: leave one list, or stop all of your mailings. |
Who it is for
Publishers and organizations that send more than one kind of mailing to the same readers, for example:
- A daily issue alongside a weekly or Shabbos edition.
- Separate lists for a shul, a yeshiva and its alumni, or different branches of an organization.
- Regular updates alongside dinner invitations, appeals and event notices.
With a single list there is nothing to choose between, and regular unsubscribe is enough.
How to turn it on
The preference center is switched on per account by our support team. Email us your account number and we will turn it on. From then on, the unsubscribe link in the body of your emails leads to the preference center in every campaign, with no change needed to your templates.
Unsubscribing is still easy
The preference center does not make it harder to leave. It only adds a choice. A reader who chooses to stop everything is removed from all of your lists, so the easy unsubscribe that the law and the inbox providers expect is still there.
Questions
What is a preference center?
A page that the unsubscribe link in your email leads to, instead of removing the reader on the spot. On that page the reader chooses whether to leave one list or stop all of your mailings.
How do I turn it on?
Send us your account number and we switch it on for your account. From then on, the unsubscribe link in the body of every email you send leads to the preference center.
Does it change unsubscribing from SMS?
No. The setting applies only to the unsubscribe link in the body of the email.
If a reader chooses to stop everything, will they still get my other issues?
No. Choosing to unsubscribe from everything removes them from all of your lists, not only the list the email was sent to.
I only send one daily issue. Do I need it?
Usually not. It helps when you send more than one kind of mailing, such as a daily issue and a weekly or Shabbos edition, so readers have something to choose between.
